Aside from putting the work in, there is something else you can add to your toolbox to help accomplish your goals and achieve your dreams.

The Law of Attraction is one of the Universal laws that states we attract into our lives what we focus on. If you focus on all the negative things that could happen, you’ll experience that. On the flip side, if you focus on the positive and all the possibilities, you will manifest just that.

The Law of Attraction says that anything you can imagine in your mind can then be achieved. Both good and bad. Whether we’re aware of it or not, every thought we have and every belief we hold is creating our reality.

Published in November of 2006, The Secret written by Rhonda Byrne introduced many, including myself to the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction was not a new law, but one that was brought to the forefront and made “new” again by The Secret. If you have not read this book or watched the movie (on Netflix I believe) you should. It could change your life like it has for so many. If you’ve read it, but you are still having troubles manifesting your desires, read it again and read Byrne’s books that follow. I would also suggest you look at any subconscious beliefs that may be holding you back as well.

I’m reminded while writing, of a cheque for $300,000 I wrote to myself after reading The Secret. It was posted on my office wall before I moved. I need to find that and start focusing on making that a reality!

There are many great things in my life that I have manifested. Things as small as the perfect parking spot when I need it and as big as a new house. The home Murray and I had on our property was great once we fixed it up, but I had always dreamt of a house on the little hill in our pasture facing the Brandon Hills. For 12 years I imagined where the house would sit, how it would have a walkout basement and the complete layout. It would have a South facing kitchen, main floor laundry, veranda, and 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. I would walk out in the pasture and pace things out. I would stand “at the kitchen sink” and enjoy the view of my horses.

It’s fine to dream about a new house but being able to finance it is another story. We were able to receive permission from the municipality to have a second home on our property because we were a farm. This allows us to generate income from that second home which is considered a farm hands home. The difference we collect in rent is enough to almost make up the difference in our mortgage. Where there is a will, there is a way.

For years, part of my manifesting was looking at RTM and other home plans to find the perfect layout that met all my desires, but wasn’t too big and would look like it belonged where it was built. I never did find the perfect layout and thought I would have to have it custom drawn and built.

Once our second child was on the way, we knew it was time to take the plunge to bigger payments and a bigger house. We were already feeling a little cramped with all the kid stuff in our two bedroom 1 bath home with all the 2-year-old kid stuff. I called one of the places that built RTM’s in town to see what their process was and he said we should meet and chat at one of the builds they had been working out just outside of town.

I went on my own with my son in tow to meet him there. When I pulled up, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The outer appearance of the house was just as I had imagined (other than the veranda was white, not wooden). I walked in the side entrance to see the main floor laundry and South facing kitchen and knew this was the house I had been dreaming about. I couldn’t believe my eyes and I made the mistake of saying out loud that it was everything I was looking for. I promptly lost all my negotiating power, but it was to the drywall stage and not far off being ready to be moved.

Both the baby and the house were overdue, but the house came the afternoon of November 15th and I had the baby early morning on the 16th! Exciting day.

The process of getting the home ready to move into was a bit grueling so I won’t go there. But once we were moved in and settled I was doing the dishes standing at the kitchen since and it hit me. I was standing in the exact moment I had seen before, the moment I had dreamt about as I watched my horses and did the dishes. I couldn’t believe we had made this our reality and my eyes welled up with gratitude. It was the most amazing feeling to have already been in that moment and now it was our life.

Recently I had another surreal experience like that. I had been imagining what it would be like to hold the big cheque for the Super Stakes win at the CBHI Futurity in Ponoka, AB. I also imagined what I would say in my “acceptance post” on Facebook and the people I needed to thank (this makes me laugh). I imagined what my run was going to feel like and I imagined how I was going to feel after making a run faster than 17.8 on a standard pattern. 17.8 or faster is what I figured I would need to be to make money in the Super Stakes. I imagined the gratitude I would have for my horse after the run and I treated her like she had already run that.

I believe I also manifested this gray mare with a long black mane and forelock that touched her nose. Still working on the forelock!   (Fawcett Photography)

On my drive up my fuel clicked out at $172.26 and I almost went to top it up, but something stopped me and I thought a 17.226 would also be a good number to run at so I left it uneven. I believed it was possible. I wasn’t sure how or when it would happen, but I believed at some point it would happen.

I didn’t run a 17.226, but I’m sure I will get to yet. The 17.66 was good enough for $5880 in the Super Stakes and 7th place in the round. We all had to line up to receive our cheques and come into the arena for a picture as they called our name. The cheque was as big as I imagined, and it didn’t matter to me the dollar figure wasn’t quite as big as I imagined. Shoot for the moon and you’ll land among the stars. The feeling of being there was the same as I walked from the mouth of the arena to the presentation area. This time I had a huge smile on my face that kept the water from falling out of my eyes. I had already been there, and I already knew how it would feel. My reality matched my vibration and that was of a winner.

This Law Of Attraction business almost sounds a little too good to be true when I give you the Coles Notes version. There’s a bit more to it than just being kind of dreamy. Deciding what you want is the first step, imagining, dreaming, the feeling is also important. But you can’t just tell the Universe what you want, and go kick back and eat a sandwich and chips. You actually have to take steps and make choices every day that lead you towards reaching your desires. The Universe likes action!

It’s also important that you clear away all the resistance you have to achieve or attract what you’re wanting. For example, if you’ve got major limiting beliefs that people with money are asses, and you don’t want to be an ass, you might have a hard time attracting the funds you need to do what you want. If you are afraid of seeing your name in lights or being in front of the camera doing an interview after your big win, I’d work on that. That could be a major hiccup causing you to sabotage yourself from winning. If your fear of attention is greater than your desire to win, the Universe is going to be a bit conflicted on how to help you. Remember it can help you achieve whatever you focus your energy on.

We talk about those limiting beliefs in my Mental Toughness Boot Camp, and we also talk about raising your vibe on the daily. Operating at a higher frequency and that of a winner on the daily will help you attract more wins to be grateful along the journey to your big goal. Gratitude along the way is a big, big part of manifesting your dreams and goals and staying “high vibe”.

Another key to manifesting is to trust the process. To trust that the Universe is working in your favor all at the right time. We can’t make it happen, we have to allow it to happen. All we can do is pull the resistance out of the way and take actionable steps with gratitude towards our vision.

I don’t always get the perfect spot beside the cart corral, but I always get it when I need it. I believe this and every time I do, I express gratitude. I don’t always manifest a new house, but when I do, I make it count and express my gratitude. I don’t always get to hold a big cheque, but when I do, I take a picture (and I’m filled with gratitude)).

Now to go find the cheque I wrote for $300,000 over 10 years ago and start working on making that a reality. What are you going to work on?
