Challenge Central

Welcome to Day 6.
You did it!    You made it all the way to the last day – congrats.
Today I want you to take an inventory of your “tool box” and skills.   What have you learned in this challenge (and what did you know prior) that can help you in times when you’re feeling nervous, frustrated or not motivated?     When I did this I was surprised at the tools I had that I haven’t been using and I noticed there were some areas I really didn’t have any skills to draw on.
I also talk about taking responsibility in your life.   This is a challenge in itself, and definitely a I life changing tool for me, that I wanted to share with you.

I’ll be in the FB group later this afternoon explaining how this relates to your mental toughness and competing with horses.
I will have an accountability post for this exercise and then I will do another PRIZE Post entry later today.

If you’re not on Facebook, you can reply to the task email with “done” (but please only use this method if you’re not on FB). .

Welcome to Day 5.
Don’t get squirmy now that you’ve seen this is a meditation challenge!   There are some options in this one.  This is a “challenge” so some things are going to be a bit challenging!      Meditation doesn’t mean you don’t think, you just don’t attach to your thoughts.  Let them float on by.   You can find a guided meditation to listen to on apps like Insight Timer or Calm, or even on Youtube. You can also simply sit in silence.  A guided meditation like the one I linked to on Youtube is probably easier than silence if you’re a beginner.   If it does not feel safe for you to meditate there is a plan B.
You don’t need to be able to meditate to be a successful competitor, but you do need to be able to silence your mind to find your zone and ideal performance state.  Meditation is an excellent way to practice this skill.
I’ll be in the FB group later this afternoon explaining how this relates to your mental toughness and competing with horses.

HERE is the more lengthy video and explanation I did for challenge #5

Welcome to Day 4.
Today we will be checking in with your body to see where we can find tension.   Listen to this one where and when you can sit and close your eyes following me in a 4 minute journey around your body.   For the rest of the day you’ll be checking in with your body at different times to see what triggers your tension and simply observing where you hold it.   Can your name the feeling and where does it go? See if you can breath it out or release it through movement or simply bringing your awareness to it.
I’ll be in the FB group later this afternoon explaining how this relates to your mental toughness and competing with horses.

Here is the live video I did in the group with background and explaining on challenge 4.

Welcome to Day 3.
Today we will be doing an exercise using your imagination.   We want to practice coaching ourselves out of a not so great situation.   It’s a rehearsal for when things don’t go well.   You don’t need to imagine the “thing” going bad, it’s about how you’re going to respond after the fact.   For example, your horse missed a lead change, you knocked a barrel or it just didn’t go as planned.   Imagine this unfortunate thing has already happened…….what’s the most effective way to respond?

Here’s the link to the live video I did on Lesson 3 in the FB group.   Why I chose it and how it relates to your mental toughness and horses.

Welcome to Day 2.
Today you’ll be being your own coach.    This is more of a practice today than a “one and done”.   Take your time and stay aware of your thoughts and when you can be kinder to yourself throughout the day.  I will have the “done” post up after noon today only.  I’d love to hear your reframe and example.  Once you’re done, head to the Facebook group and find the DAY 2 accountability post to say you’ve completed the challenge.   You have until 9 am CST Wednesday to complete.  I’ll close the comments on the post then.

Here’s the bonus video I did with some background and lessons around this topic in the FB group.
